Kelly Wanser

Kelly Wanser is Principal Director of the Marine Cloud Brightening Project, one of the major research programs in reflecting sunlight to reduce climate warming, or “solar geoengineering”. A climate research advocate, she is also engaged in efforts to accelerate the adoption of new technologies and systems methods for understanding and managing climate. She is a Board Director at Biocarbon Engineering, a company focused on automating ecosystem restoration and member of the National Academy of Sciences President’s Circle, and previously served as a Senior Advisor to Ocean Conservancy on analysis of ocean-climate risk and to the Laser Inertial Fusion Energy (LIFE) program at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. A technologist, executive and entrepreneur, she previously founded companies in IT infrastructure, analytics and security, and is the author of over 20 patents. Ms. Wanser helped establish the marine cloud brightening research effort in 2008, and recently testified on solar geoengineering before the U.S. House Science, Space and Technology Committee.
