Dana Cowin
Dana Cowin is an American editor, author and radio show host, best known for her two decades as the Editor-in-Chief of Food & Wine. During her tenure at the magazine, she expanded and introduced the annual Best New Chefs award and Most Innovative Women in Food & Drink. With her new venture, The Progressive Hedonist, Dana is committed to fighting the climate crisis through food and joy.
Before Progressive Hedonist, Dana founded Speaking Broadly, an event series, zine and podcast spotlighting visionary women at the intersection of creativity, sustainability and food. Through Speaking Broadly's consultancy, Dana coached creatives and advised growing companies like Dig Food Group on food and storytelling.
Dana began her career in traditional media, first at Vogue magazine, then House & Garden and finally for 21 years as Editor in Chief of Food & Wine magazine, where she guided all editorial aspects of the brand, from print to digital to annual books. She helped introduce the food-centered lifestyle at a time when the culinary scene in America was just emerging.
Dana has written extensively on food and culture. In 2014, she published a cookbook, Mastering My Mistakes in the Kitchen: Learning to cook with 65 great chefs and 100 recipes.
