IT Support

The Long Now Foundation is seeking experienced IT support to meet both our ongoing operational needs and a range of upcoming project-based work. We are currently envisioning this as a contract role with opportunities for growth over time.

Ongoing IT support

• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot our digital infrastructure
• Manage onsite internet and security systems for a hybrid office and bar/cafe environment
• Manage collaboration and productivity software support for a team of ~25 local and remote employees
• Google Workspace management for an install base of ~50 active users making heavy use of Gmail, Drive, and Groups
• Hubspot CRM platform maintenance
• Long Now platform and vendor management
• Advise and direct on 5-year IT plan around emerging technologies

Project-based: HubSpot

• Assist with platform integration with Stripe, Shopify, and others
• Data cleanup and duplicate reconciliation in collaboration with Long Now staff
• Improve business logic and workflows, document changes, and train Long Now staff

Project-based: Data repository migration

• Strategize and perform migration of large data repositories containing 20+ years of Long Now institutional data from Egnyte and Dropbox to Google Drive
• Manage Long Now staff migration of user-level Egnyte content
• Advise on backup strategies to preserve existing file structures for cold storage

Bartender/barback at The Interval

Training in August, start on September 1 (Full time or part time)

The Interval at The Long Now Foundation seeks a skilled, personable, and dependable bartender/barback to join our team. This role requires a passion for hospitality, craft cocktails, and engaging with a curious, intellectually driven community. You’ll be instrumental in providing a memorable guest experience while upholding the values and mission of Long Now.

• Provide exceptional bar service, including preparing and serving coffee, cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages
• Engage warmly with guests, answer questions about our drinks and mission, and create a welcoming environment
• Help prepare housemade ingredients, set up and break down the bar 
• Be part of a thoughtful, team-focused staff that values mutual support, shared responsibility, and collaborates to create an enjoyable workplace.
• Support events and programming as needed

Qualifications

• High EQ with strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work efficiently and stay composed in a fast-paced environment
• Availability to work evenings and weekends a must
• Curiosity for The Long Now Foundation’s mission and programming

• Competitive hourly wage + tips
